UX/UI Design, Branding
[Introduction]
The Special Spots sells to owners, not pets a purchase driven by aesthetics and emotion as much as utility. That premise reframed the entire design problem: premium positioning had to be earned onscreen. The brand needed an identity credible enough to justify the price, product presentation that conveyed material and craft, and a shopping architecture organized the way people actually think, by pet, by room, by occasion, rather than by warehouse category.
[Challanges]
As the sole UX/UI and Product Designer, I owned the project end to end. The central challenge was making premium feel earned rather than asserted. I started with research into how pet owners shop and what makes a premium purchase feel worth it, then translated those findings into an information architecture and shopping flow built around how people actually browse, by pet, room, and occasion, not by warehouse category. Much of that premium credibility rode on the branding. I built the identity from the ground up, logo, palette, and typography, designed to signal quality at first glance and do the emotional work of justifying the price before a single product description was read. Packaged into a cohesive design system, it keeps the experience feeling intentional as the catalog grows.
[Final outcome]
The final design delivers a shopping experience organized around how people actually think about their pets and homes, browsing by pet, room, and occasion rather than warehouse category. Product pages convey material and craft convincingly enough to support the price point, and a checkout built for confidence carries that premium feel through to purchase. Paired with a brand identity that signals quality at first glance, The Special Spots turns pet shopping into a lifestyle purchase, elevated enough to justify the price and coherent enough to scale as the catalog grows.
