[Introduction]
MedRisk provides insurance solutions for managed care plans and healthcare providers, working with HMOs, self-funded employers, physicians, group practices, surgical centers, and other facilities. They set out to build a tool that used AI to do what previously took hours of manual chart review: pull patient medical information from their database, analyze it, and produce a concise summary report on demand. The aim was to give staff an instant, reliable snapshot of a patient's condition — and share it in a click.
[Challanges]
As UX/UI and Product Designer, my first task was understanding the AI itself, what it could realistically do, and which capabilities we could turn into genuine value for the user. From there, the challenge was designing the most effective workflow to make a powerful tool feel simple, with a short, steep learning curve. I translated that thinking into wireframes that mapped the working workflow, then delivered high-resolution UI mockups that made the experience tangible and gave everyone a clear picture of the final product. Throughout development, I stayed close to the engineering team, solving problems as they surfaced and making sure the Note Analyzer's look and feel carried through to the build.
[Final outcome]
The final design turns a dense, manual chart-review process into a fast, guided experience. Staff can pull a patient's medical information, generate a clear summary of their condition, and email it in moments, all through an interface built to be learned quickly and trusted immediately. Backed by consistent UI mockups and close development oversight, the Note Analyzer shipped with its intended look and feel intact, giving MedRisk a tool that makes AI genuinely useful at the point of need.
